Chris Denwood is a lifelong karate practitioner who specialises in applying the art's fundamental principles for civilian self-protection, health, and personal development.

Inducted into the Combat Hall of Fame, Chris is a respected teacher, author and content creator, with his books, articles and instructional videos shared globally. He has taught karate in numerous countries, including in Japan, and runs a successful virtual dojo platform that supports a strong membership of experienced karate-ka from around the world.


His martial arts journey has included various disciplines, extensive study of both Japanese and Okinawan styles, also earning supplementary qualifications as a fitness instructor and advanced kettlebell lifting coach. He has been active on the international seminar circuit and has provided personal safety training for various sectors, alongside expert consultancy for UK television.


Chris is a regular visitor to Okinawa and is honoured to be a member of one of the oldest and most respected dojo on the island. Having been influenced by inspiring teachers, along with many years of personal research, he adopts a progressively evolving approach based on enriching life through disciplined training, healthy living, and authentic self-expression...adapting karate's tradition for modern-day application.
